Amorepacific teams up with Eastman on sustainable packaging

Eastman’s molecular recycling technologies break down hard-to-recycle plastic waste into building blocks used to create new materials. The process reduces the use of fossil resources and results in 20 to 50 percent lower greenhouse gas emissions than traditional manufacturing.Through the partnership, Amorepacific brand Laneige will be the first to utilize packaging made from Eastman Cristal Renew copolyester with certified recycled content. Starting with its Laneige Water Sleeping Mask, the new formula and innovative packaging featuring Cristal Renew will launch this month at cosmetics retailer Sephora in the U.S. and Canada and at us.laneige.com.

“Cristal Renew and Eastman’s innovative molecular recycling technologies will play a crucial role in helping us achieve the commitments laid out in our ‘2030 A MORE Beautiful Promise,’ without sacrificing the premier beauty experience customers expect from Amorepacific,” said Jung Changwook, senior vice president of Amorepacific development and purchasing division.”It’s an honor to be selected as a partner in Amorepacific’s sustainability journey,” added Glenn Goldman, commercial director for Plastics at Eastman. “We look forward to working further with them to bring new innovations to market, beginning with the Laneige launch before the end of the year.”Earlier this year, Amorepacific joined the global RE100 initiative becoming the first Korean beauty company to aim to source 100 percent renewable energy to power all of its production sites and offices by the year 2030, furthering its commitment to the environment.
